If it is, a structural engineer sizes the beam, we prop the floor above, install and seat the steel, and building control inspect it. It is a straightforward job when it is done in that order and a serious problem when it is not.

No. We come out, look at the actual job, and give you a written price with no obligation. If what you need is genuinely a handyman rather than a builder we will say so rather than dress it up into something bigger.

Usually very close. Mortar colour comes from the sand and the mix, and getting it wrong is what makes a repair visible forever. We match against a cleaned joint and use a mix with the right strength for the masonry, because hard cement on soft old brick does damage rather than good.
